football betting tips -
January 25th

The notes below were sent as an "extra" to everyone in the clubgowi database yesterday, they were not "complete"in that only one was a full preview, but they highlighted five winning bets at odds of 2.04-3.50 ........

Some huge games/events today on a fantastic day of sport, we might see the next golfing superstar, Blades Brown, announce his arrival on the PGA Tour (if not today, then soon!) and we have the NFL Championship games and four amazing EPL fixtures. It is those six games that appeal and there were some eye-catching stats on each and it is those I want to share. Obviously the previews for subscribers were more detailed and might have even gone in a different direction, but the stats are worth looking at if you are considering betting any of the games and are a good starting point.

NFL Championship games:

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos

LA Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Let's take a look at Championship games in general. Last five seasons (ten games) have seen 9 of 10 home teams score 20+ points ( 8 scored 23+) and six games produce 51+ total points, five 57+ and four 61+ .

Premier League:

Brentford- Nottingham Forest

Last 14 home games have seen Brentford average 2.36 goals, scoring 3+ in 8 (five against top half of the table opponents....three top 5) and 2+ goals in 10 . They have lost B2B games just once in 14 months. Forest are 2-0-4 next time out after a Europa League game, losing both road games 2-0 and failing to score in all four defeats.

Arsenal-Manchester United

United have scored in their last 11 games and have had 8 days to bask in the warm glow of a Manchester derby win. The Gunners were in Milan on Tuesday where they beat Inter 3-1 in a game they did not "need" to win with BTS and 3+ goals. That would have won in 6 of Arsenal's last 8 starts, in 3 of 5 h2h meetings with United at the Emirates and in 5 of the visitors last 9 games.

Crystal Palace- Chelsea

Chelsea "always" score , or at least have done so in 32 of 33 starts, including the last 12 and one goal might be enough today. Palace are winless in ten (conceding 18 goals) and lost to a Tier 6 team in the FA Cup, a competition they went into as holders. Chelsea have won on 6 of 7 visits to Selhurst Park and have also kept clean sheets in 10 of 20 h2h meetings with the Eagles. The hosts are leaving a lot of goals on the pitch, scoring just 23 from an xG of over 37 .

Newcastle United - Aston Villa

Stand out stat and an amazing one is that United have scored 2+ goals in 14 of 15 home games and they are pretty relentless here at St James' Park where the always passionate home crowd urges them forward at every opportunity. Newcastle have won the last four h2h games as host, the last three by a combined 12-1 which ties in with the Magpies continued free scoring ways on home soil.

Italy Serie A: Genoa-Bologna

We were big on Genoa for a recent trip to highflying Milan ....

Title chasers hosting relegation candidates, but good reason to believe this could be closer than the league table suggests. XP gives Milan 8 points fewer and Genoa an additional 4 and sees the gap at just 11 and not the 23 of reality! Expected numbers also say that Milan should have conceded an additional 0.46 goals per game and Genoa scored 0.26 more. However, ACM are unbeaten in 16 games and in 9 h2h meetings. Having said that, BTS in 5 of the 7 played at the San Siro and Milan have conceded 2+ goals in 3 of 5 starts, including at home to Sassuolo. Genoa have scored in 4 of 5 road games, 8 goals total and in 7 of 8 league starts under Daniele De Rossi who returned to management at the end of 2025, 14 months after leaving Roma and he has got them to open up a little.

Milan have actually conceded twice at home to not just Sassuolo but also Cremonese and Pisa and seem to struggle more defensively when the level of expectation rises and perhaps they become more gung-ho.

That finished 1-1 but Genoa should have taken all three points, missing a penalty with pretty much the last kick of the game. They have taken four points along with B2B clean sheets in two subsequent starts.

They have a fine record in the series with Bologna, especially in terms of goals scored.Genoa have scored in 9 of 10 h2h meetings, 2+ goals in seven of those, with a 5-3-2 record. The hosts also had a free midweek to recharge batteries, whereas Bologna josted Celtic on Thursday night and made a bit of a hash of things. They struggled and drew 2-2 despite playing 10 men for over an hour and that was the third game running and 6th time in eight starts that they had conceded 2+ goals.

Genoa to score "over" 1.5 goals @ 3.25-3.50 general quote for the 4th time in five h2h home games.

Good luck!
