Strasbourg to continue goal rush .....

Ligue 1:RC Strasbourg- Paris Saint Germain

Strasbourg have been "our" Ligue 1 team for a couple of seasons and there are a mountain of notes in them in the database, which I suspect you are all familiar with.  After a mini blip and the loss of head coach coach Liam Rosenior to "parent club" Chelsea, they are not only back on track but on fire and scoring freely at the moment under Gary O'Neil who was sacked by Wolves a year earlier.....

25-Jan-2026 L1 (19) Lille 1-4 Strasbourg

12 goals and a 100% record is a great way to start, but , of course, his team will be asked a completely different set of questions today. Having said that, RCS have done ok h2h scoring in 16 of 20 h2h games (all 10 at home) and scoring 2+ in 5 of the last 10, that includes a 3-3 draw in Paris earlier this season where they led 3-1. Ahead of that I wrote ......

Pre season notes on RCS ............

Strasbourg are "our" Ligue 1 team, or have been for the last two seasons, tracking them through the BlueCo (Chelsea) takeover and the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach 12 months ago. They finished 7th with 34 points (second only to PSG) coming through the second half of the campaign.

XP gave them 14 points fewer and xGA suggests they should have conceded 18 goals more. Last season they had the youngest squad in Ligue 1 at an average of 22.2 years of age.

This campaign will be interesting and could go either way, first up, they have those numbers to outrun yet again and they sold Habib Diarra to Sunderland for a big fee and another player to Chelsea, but he was immediately loaned back.

They have signed, wait for it, 10 players for a combined 100m€ and loaned three total from parent club Chelsea, the oldest of the 13 is 23yo and seven are teenagers. They have a 33 man squad as I type with an average age of 21.7 , the next youngest group in Ligue 1 comes in at 24.1! It is an incredibly exciting project and one I love, but they also have European football , albeit only the Conference League to deal with, but that makes for a lot of Thursday/Sunday football weeks. In some ways this season feels even more of a learning curve. I am sure they will feature in my notes a lot, but I feel they will do well to match last season's 7th place, but having said that, a couple of teams who finished above them last season might be in a spot of bother. Let's hold off and wait and see how the first few weeks pan out.

I have a mountain high pile of notes on Strasbourg and I have included my preview from this fixture last season below the "good luck" sign off. PSG won 4-2 with RCS scoring 2+ goals for the 4th time in 8 visits and landed a nice double bet for us.  RCS are running into form and have scored 7 goals in their last two starts, they have scored 2+ in four straight road games ( 10 goals total) and they have fewer distractions than PSG. Both teams play in Europe next midweek, but Strasbourg at home on Thursday, PSG in Germany on Tuesday, those are more logistical problems than anything else ,as both have six points from two European games so far, but they do favour RCS. BTS feels VERY likely and PSG might well need three goals to win this.

2.25 units both teams to score and "over" 2.5 goals @ 2.07 asian line.

1.5 units RC Strasbourg to score "over" 1.5 goals @ 4.0-4.20 general quote.

Other notes can be read in the October 17th email.

I find it impossible to desert RCS in what will be O'Neil's first Ligue 1 home start and with PSG conceding 2+ goals in 3 of 5 away games and "often" to Strasbourg that will be my call.

2.25 units RC Strasbourg to score "over" 1.5 goals @ 3.0 general quote.
