Blackburn Rovers- Wrexham
I spoke about Wrexham starting to look like their old devil may care selves on Monday, with both teams scoring in 6 of their last 7 and there have been 18 goals total in the four most recent. They have scored 7 in winning the last two of those, back to back home wins against two strong teams and now need to start taking that offensive threat with them on the road.
Hollywood United ( Wrexham) are media darlings and they have led a charmed and relentlessly successful few years with three successive promotions .....

That was always likely to catch up with them at some stage and it has taken quite a while for them to get going after starting this season slowly. The Championship is tough and at this level the Red Dragons do not have such a financial edge. However, they did try to assert it and spent a net £35m which is a lot in the second tier nowadays and largely went for players with plenty of Championship experience, but they took a while to gel. They are only four points off the playoff spots with plenty of games left to play and they got further major investment into the club recently and their ambitions know no bounds. A win today will leave them well placed and surely they will look to further strengthen in this window.
Rovers are tough to beat, but have won just 2 of 11 home games and we have been here before with them and Ewood Park is not the toughest of venues to play at and they have had awful second half of the season runs multiple times in the past, winning 1 of 11 home games after Christmas in 2023/24 for example. They have a depleted squad, which is running on empty without their top scorer and several offensive back ups and are already the third lowest scorers in the division. The odds today do not make a lot of sense.

Charlton Athletic-Coventry City
Coventry City are one of our Championship outright selections (see foot of this email) and hold an eight point lead, which, of course, I would have taken six months ago, but they have gone off the boil a little and are coming off a 2-0 home defeat to Ipswich Town, who are looking their biggest rival for the title.
However, we can expect a reaction after their first home defeat in the league since April and the Valley feels like a good place to go right now to try and get that. Athletic have taken just 4 points from a possible 27, with just a win over a bottom three team in that sequence and seven defeats. The hosts have not beaten a side in the top 15 since October and only two all season.
We have been here before with Robins head coach Nathan Jones, who's record in the Championship, apart from his time at Luton, and he has been in charge of some big second tier sides, is not good....12-9-26 with a -25 goal difference.He might turn this around, but for now, I have to at least voice some concerns and some supporters certainly are.
