Olympique Lyonnais: A giant no longer sleeping ?

Lyon have served us well recently, not least with that 2-1 win at PSG last month....
Lyon dominated French football in the noughties and PSG have done so subsequently and this game always, therefore, has special relevance and maybe more so for the visitors and they need a result today to keep top 4 hopes alive, looking to return to the Champions League after a six year absence. PSG has won 8 of the last 10 ( 8-0-2) h2h meetings in the capital, but the two OL wins have come in the last five visits. OL have scored in their last six trips to Paris, losing four and BTS with the home win is the most likely outcome, but I would not totally rule out the upset, as PSG had an emotionally charged game at Anfield in midweek , the Champions League is their priority and no one is going to convince me otherwise and they have their postponed home game (two in hand) with Nantes in a couple of days time where three points will be easier to come by.
We don't oppose PSG at home too often for obvious reasons, but do pretty well when we do , Clermont and Monaco twice (this season) immediately spring to mind.

They have won both subsequent games ( 3-2 and 4-2) and a win this weekend will secure a return to Champions League football after a six year hiatus. They played in Europe's premier competition for 12 straight seasons until 2012 and maybe this will fully herald the return of the good times. They are owned by Eagle Football Group ( John Textor) and I wrote a post in December 2024: The Textor effect and could Lyon be the next beneficiaries? A lot has happened in the interim 18 months since then, not all good, today is not the day to go into all that, but OL appear to be on the way back and to where they always feel they should be.
