Palmeiras make the 2,000km trip up to Salvador to play Vitoria with their tails between their legs after losing 2-1 at home to Atletico-MG at the weekend, they are 5-0-0 next time out after a defeat , with a 15-2 goal difference and that includes a 3-0 win away to Flamengo and that result highlights their bounce back ability. Vitoria have had a yoyo decade, falling to the third tier but are now in their third season back in the top flight and look relatively established in midtable. They know how you survive in this league and that is by making the most of your home games and they have a tremendous 7-1-1 record in this stadium this season. However, the loss did come against Flamengo (2-1) and they also lost the reverse fixture with Palmeiras down in Sao Paulo 5-1 and I also feel they will have one eye on their two legged Copa do Brasil tie with CAP with both games played over the next seven days. I favour the away win, but Vitoria have scored in all four games with the Big two this season ( two in the cup) and shared four with Palmeiras here almost exactly 12 months ago ( last season). The hosts had a long and difficult trip to Belem to play Remo at the weekend, returning at 03:00 on Monday, where they played two defensive players out of position, despite having "natural " options" and lost 2-0, they have one less day than the visitors to prepare and Palmeiras are also going to be fresher as they get Flaco Lopez back from his WC exploits with Argentina and see the return of FOUR suspended players who sat out the weekend defeat.
